tomato, kale, feta, pleasure
nearly two years ago i started my affair with pearl barley, through a now tried and tested soup.
yet again i remembered the pleasure of pearl barley, and of kale. except tonight it was silverbeet, no kale at the co-op. and then even more exciting to wander home at midnight to find jane going back for seconds of the soup still in the pot on the stove. not quite knowing what the secret ingredient was (the pearl barley!) and challenging me to a winter of soup-offs. the challenge is on.

this is what is often known as a food blog. recipes, photos, stories that are almost always food related.
right now i'm a phd student living in sydney/adelaide (and writing about my writing up process here), but have lived many other lives through the history of this blog, so please explore and discover.
you can see my every day project (done in 2010) here until november 2010.
i also put stuff on the internet over here: luminen.net, metaphorical jam and chutney making included.

i made pb with pumpkin. the pb has an alchemical reaction, making everything starchy and creamy. it’s the best!
